BREASTFEEDING
		Breast-feeding is taught to all mothers whose babies are delivered by La Familia physicians, regardless of the number of children the mother has already birthed. The breast-feeding Promotora begins the instruction in the hospital and continues the training at home. Home visits are found to be an essential component of the program and usually take place three to four days after delivery. La Familia also offers a Lactation Center, which offers breast-pump rentals. In the Lactation Center, problems the mother and child may be experiencing with breast-feeding are assessed by the breast-feeding Promotora, and various solutions are tried until success is achieved.
