DOULA (labor coaching)
		SUPPORTING YOU DURING LABOR AND DELIVERY All obstetrical patients can choose to receive the benefit of a labor coach or doula when they’re ready to deliver their babies. Our doulas accompany the patient in labor, provide emotional and physical support, suggest comfort measures, and provide support and suggestions for the partner. Whenever possible, the doula provides pre- and post-partum emotional support, including explanation and discussion of practices and procedures, as needed. Our doula advocates for the patient’s wishes as expressed in her birth plan, in prenatal conversations, and intrapartum discussion. She helps the mother incorporate changes in the plan if and when the need arises, and enhances communication between the patient and her caregiver.
