There are several ways that we can help you afford to take your medications:
Sample Drug Plan
Almost from its inception, La Familia Medical Center
has used free drug samples from pharmaceutical companies. These samples are
kept in LFMC’s drug room, and are dispensed by physicians and family
nurse practitioners to patients as needed.
Manufacturers’ Indigent Pharmacy Plan
Since 1997, LFMC has operated a Manufacturers’ Indigent
Pharmacy Plan. Under this program, La Familia caseworkers have established
relationships with pharmaceutical companies to request donations of products
for those patients who are indigent or eligible for sliding fees. Patients
meeting manufacturer criteria receive their individual prescriptions –
usually a three-month supply – free of charge. La Familia caseworkers
find that this program can be used to fill the medicinal needs of seniors who
are unable to pay for their prescriptions.
La Familia Discounted Pharmacy Program
To ensure that indigent patients secure needed
medications, LFMC has established a program allowing patients who qualify for
the sliding fee scale to fill their prescriptions at Kiva Pharmacy located in
DeVargas Mall in downtown Santa Fe. Kiva
pharmacy bills LFMC for the cost of the prescription, less a minimum
co-payment of $15, which the patient pays when picking up the prescription.
