Dr. Joellen Coates grew up in Hawaii and moved to Laramie, Wyoming before starting high school. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Wyoming in Microbiology. She thoroughly enjoyed her time there and met many wonderful people through her degree. She then attended the University of Washington Dental School in Seattle for 4 years to complete her dental degree.
Dental school was tough in many aspects, but has prepared her well for the future and as a dental resident at LFMC. She also met some of her greatest friends through dental school and they helped each other through those 4 years. Dr. Coates is so excited and grateful to have the opportunity to work at LFMC for her 1-year AEGD residency in general dentistry to gain experience and more training. She chose this site for her residency because the values and mission of the clinic aligned with her goals and values as a dental provider and giving back to the community. The breadth of knowledge and skills that all the dentists have at LFMC is rich and she has already learned many valuable skills and knowledge from the month she’s been working here.
Dr. Coates loves to be active outdoors, including hiking, biking, and running. Santa Fe has been a great place with friendly people and the great outdoors to explore. She looks forward to the next year at LFMC and the opportunities to serve the patients of the clinic and the area.
