A Legacy of Compassion: 1972 to Present
Our story began in 1972 as a small community clinic dedicated to caring for those who faced challenges accessing healthcare. Over the past 50 years, La Familia Health has grown into a trusted, multi-location health center serving Santa Fe and the surrounding communities.
Key Milestones:
1972:
Founded as a volunteer clinic through Model Cities as part of the War on Poverty.
1987:
Designated as a Federally Qualified Health Center to expand care access across Santa Fe.
1995:
Moved into our current 19,000-square-foot medical facility on Alto Street.
2000:
Opened the Southside Clinic to serve the rapidly growing Centennial area.
2002:
Established the Health Care for the Homeless program to provide dedicated medical care and outreach.
2011:
Relocated our dental clinic to Santa Fe Community College to offer advanced oral care.
2015:
Opened the La Familia Health Pharmacy as a closed-door pharmacy to provide on-site prescription access for patients.
2023:
Started our strategic transition to a retail pharmacy model to expand community medication access.
2024:
Began billing for prescription claims directly, making prescription care more seamless and affordable.
Today:
Serving as a primary teaching site for the Northern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency Program to train future medical professionals.
Health Care for the Homeless
Strong communities leave no one behind. Our specialized Healthcare for the Homeless Program provides primary care, dental services, and case management for those without shelter.
La Familia works directly in the community at locations like Pete’s Place and Santa Fe Suites to ensure that essential medical support is always within reach for unhoused individuals.
