I come from a community that is often faces significant barriers to receiving care, including lack of understanding of their language and culture. This ultimately resulted in me aspiring to become the type of provider that people from my community often never saw. I believe that health care is a human right and I believe a provider and patient should work together in their care to collaborate on what is best for their own needs and goals, especially when it comes to mental health.
