Family Medicine Physician with specialty training in obstetrics and high-risk pregnancies
Dr. Akhavan originally comes from the Denver-area where she completed medical school. She then moved to Albuquerque to complete residency where she found a passion for obstetric and neonatal medicine, particularly in working with patients with a current or past in substance use. For this reason, she completed additional fellowship training to specialize in addiction in pregnancy and subsequent neonatal care. She is also trained in high risk obstetrics and performs Cesearan sections, post-partum tubal ligations, and other obstetric-related procedures and surgeries.
