Dr. Bagambhrini Gerace Thompkins
MDFamily Medicine PhysicianI was born and raised in a small town in south-eastern Iowa, Fairfield, within the Transcendental Meditation Movement which is founded on principles of the Vedic literature including the ancient system of wellness known as Ayurveda. As a teen I moved with my family to Tucson and graduated from Tucson High Magnet school. I worked at Nadine’s Kosher Bakery and spent Saturdays nights at the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I am grateful in my life God continues to expand my perspective and understanding of the spiritual nature of my purpose which is to care for and serve others. I understand that I, like my patients, am a tri-part being – physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual – and that I must be attentive and aware of all of these components of myself to be well. I believe my job here is not to make judgements or impose my own opinions about the path my patient’s take, but to hold space for them and to provide encouragement and tools to help allow them to reach their own goals regarding well-being. I see children and adults of all ages, from newborn to geriatrics and everything in between. I am happy to incorporate eastern perspectives and integrative therapies into patient’s care plans if they are interested in that approach. I enjoy providing mental health care including substance abuse, medication assisted treatment, and gender affirming care. I’m interested in providing care for patients with different abilities and communication styles including American Sign Language. I perform most office procedures including joint injection; nail removal; circumcision; family planning including Vasectomy, IUD and Nexplanon; reproductive health including prenatal care and GYN procedures including PAP smears, colposcopy, endometrial biopsy, and Bartholin cyst management; laceration care and first aid; dermatologic procedures including lesion removal and skin biopsy; treatment for individuals with HIV and Hepatitis C.Education: University of Arizona College of Medicine – Class of 2018 with Distinction in Commitment to Under-served People Enfolded Post Sophomore Fellowship - Department of Pathology. MDPhysicianAs someone who studied English in college, I've always been interested in personal narratives. What I love most about primary care is the privilege of learning about other people's lives. Coming from a family of Vietnamese refugees, I know that culture and life experience can differ so much among people who live in the same community. I feel incredibly lucky to meet patients from diverse backgrounds, from whom I can learn, and develop long term relationships with them.Education: Harvard University: Bachelor of Arts, English and American Literature, 2006 Phi Beta Kappa, Grant for Public Service, John Harvard Scholarship Yale School of Medicine: Downs International Health Fellow, 2007-2012…
